Laser dentistry in pediatric care is a modern, minimally invasive alternative to traditional dental tools. Using laser technology, dentists can perform a wide range of procedures with more precision and less discomfort for the child.

There are two main types of lasers in dentistry: hard tissue and soft tissue lasers. Hard tissue lasers are primarily used for cutting into teeth and bone with extreme precision. Soft tissue lasers, on the other hand, are used for procedures involving the gums and other soft tissues in the mouth. They’re often used for treatments like gum reshaping, frenectomy (removing or altering the ‘tongue-tie’ or ‘lip-tie’), and treating mouth ulcers or cold sores.

The benefits of laser dentistry include less pain during and after the procedure, reduced need for stitches or anesthesia, minimized bleeding, and lower risk of infection due to the laser’s sterilizing effect.
